Summary0003435: OPC UA Secure Conversation - Reduce TransportProtocol buffer minimum size.
Description

1.03 Part 6 Sections 6.7.1 Overview and 6.7.2 MessageChunk structure require:

  • UASC requires a TransportProtocol buffer size that is at least 8196 bytes.
  • The MessageChunkSize depends on the transport protocol but shall be at least 8196 bytes.

Requiring buffers 8196 or larger prevents OPC UA from scaling down to more constrained entry-level devices.

Recommend moving buffer size restriction from Part 6 to Part 7 and making restriction based on profiles.

ECC allows for smaller buffer sizes. Fixed in 1.05.01.
